The Tanks-UK product range already features a variety of effluent management solutions. Permanent systems include sewage treatment plants, which break down raw sewage into harmless elements that can be safely discharged into the environment, and sewage pump stations, which can pump sewage from basements or low-lying properties to a main sewer connection at a higher elevation.
Construction sites, festivals and other temporary toilet facilities also require effluent management. These generally feature cabin-style toilet blocks that discharge sewage into holding tanks underneath the cabins, which require regular emptying.
However, a vehicle making regular site visits to empty these tanks increases operational costs and carbon emissions. It can also disrupt operations and present a safety hazard if the vehicle has to access areas used by workers or members of the public.
CABINPUMP®: The Smarter Sewage Management Solution
To make construction sites and other temporary toilet locations greener, more cost-effective and safer, Tanks-UK has now added CABINPUMP products to its effluent management range.
CABINPUMP® Ultra
CABINPUMP Ultra is an effluent macerating pump unit that eliminates the need for an under-cabin effluent holding tank and regular site visits from tankers. Its two macerator pumps convert solid effluent into liquid sludge, which they are powerful enough to pump horizontally up to 600 metres and 15 metres vertically.
This means that rather than storing effluent underneath the cabin, it can be discharged directly via a nearby gravity drain into the main sewers. If no gravity drain is available, the vertical pumping power means CABINPUMP Ultra can discharge sludge into a high-capacity overground storage tank such as the 10,000-litre vertical tank from Tanks-UK.
While this doesn’t completely replace tanker site visits, the additional holding capacity means the visits are less frequent and therefore costs, carbon emissions and safety risks are reduced.
Due to the CABINPUMP Ultra’s pumping capabilities, the high-capacity tank can also be situated away from the toilet cabin in a place that is more accessible. This increases site safety and minimises disruption.
CABINPUMP® Mini
CABINPUMP Mini has been designed to complement CABINPUMP Ultra, providing a compliant solution for greywater disposal from temporary toilets, showers and catering facilities.
Wastewater from the basins, showers, sinks and appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines often found in temporary welfare facilities should be discharged into a temporary holding tank or main sewer. By installing a CABINPUMP Mini, this water can be pumped via the CABINPUMP Ultra to the main sewer or high-capacity holding tank, rather than discharged into the surrounding soil (which is often the case).
CABINPUMP: The Benefits
Installation
Setting up a CABINPUMP unit couldn’t be easier. Its plug-and-play design only requires connecting to the sewage outlet and a power supply. Standard PVC pipes and fittings are used between the cabin and CABINPUMP and from the CABINPUMP to the gravity drain or high-capacity holding tank. No excavation or backfilling is required and thanks to the unit’s pumping power, the levels and fall of the outlet pipe aren’t critical.
Operation
CABINPUMP is energy-efficient and durable, designed for long hours of quiet, trouble-free operation. With none of the unpleasant smell and regular disruption associated with tanker site visits, it’s easy to forget the CABINPUMP is even there. It will also be almost invisible on your list of operational costs, as there won’t be charges for effluent removal and tankering.
Sustainability
While CABINPUMP pays for itself within a short time, that doesn’t mean it has to be scrapped at the end of a construction project. The CABINPUMP unit can be returned to the manufacturer at any time for servicing and overhaul, ensuring its lifecycle is extended to the maximum. However, if you do choose to dispose of your CABINPUMP once the project is completed, it can be broken down to harvest reusable components.
