The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2026 is now open for applications, giving farmers and land managers the opportunity to secure funding for equipment that improves productivity, animal welfare and environmental outcomes. With the window now live, early preparation and prompt applications will be key to making the most of available funding.

A quick reminder of what’s eligible

If you saw our earlier update, you’ll already have an idea of how the scheme is structured. In simple terms, FETF 2026 supports a defined list of equipment categories, each aligned to specific item codes and funding criteria set by DEFRA.

Tanks-UK products sit across three of these areas. The key is ensuring that the product selected aligns precisely with the relevant item code and technical requirements set out in the scheme guidance. To make that clearer, it’s worth looking at where these solutions typically fit.

Rainwater harvesting

Rainwater harvesting systems support farm productivity by reducing reliance on mains or abstracted water, while improving control over water use. Where systems meet the required specifications, they can align with FETF categories focused on resource efficiency and sustainable water management.

Reliable, well-managed livestock watering systems contribute directly to animal health and welfare outcomes. Tanks, troughs and associated infrastructure that meet DEFRA’s criteria can fall within the scheme’s animal welfare sector, particularly where they improve consistency, hygiene and access to clean water.

Slurry management

Slurry handling and storage remain a key focus area within FETF 2026. Tanks-UK solutions that support improved containment, handling and environmental protection can align with slurry management, helping farms meet both operational and regulatory expectations.

Why timing matters now

With the scheme now open, demand typically builds quickly. Suppliers begin to see increased enquiries, and lead times can shift as applications are approved and orders follow. Acting early gives you a clearer choice of compliant equipment and a smoother route from application through to installation.
