Fuel Cube Tanks
How do you define a cube tank? In fact, very few of them are exactly cube shaped, but it does give you an idea of what they will look like. Tanks-UK’s steel fuel cubes are basically bunded (double-skinned) fully portable tanks with integral dispensing equipment. Sometimes known as skid-mounted units, although technically skid mounts are a separate frame onto which transport tanks are mounted, whereas cube tanks have integral bases.
When would you use a fuel cube?
They are ideal for a variety of uses where portability is a requirement, such as:
- On farms where they can be taken to a field and left there for the duration of the work for refuelling equipment. Or they can be left on the back of a truck or trailer, ready to use.
- On construction sites for a temporary fuel dispensing unit for plant.
- As generator feed tanks.
- Sports grounds and landscaping – refuelling vehicles, ride-on mowers, etc., away from base
- Events use – for generators and small vehicles such as ATV’s.
- Exhibition centres.
- On working barges and boats.
Attributes of steel fuel cubes
These are extremely robust bunded steel tanks with the following common features:
- Forklift pockets for ease of moving – most of them have 2-way forklift pockets
- Lifting eyes for use with cranes
- Lockable filling and dispensing cabinet
- Choice of pump
- Designed to fit onto pickup trucks, flatbeds or trailers
- ADR approved for road transport use (but note that under 1000 litres is exempt from ADR Regs, as it is classified as a ‘small load’ IBC)
- Complete with Hazchem labels
The Tungsten range are available in a variety of standard colours or can be painted to your specific company colours if required.
What sizes are available?
Tanks-UK’s standard range consists of:
- 450 litre size – with a choice of two configurations. (Tungsten brand)
- 900 litre (Portatank)
- 950 litre (Tungsten)
- 1000 litre (Tungsten)
- 1900 litre (Portatank)
- 2000 litre – 2 versions (Tungsten)
- 2900 litre (Portatank)
- 3000 litre (Tungsten)
When deciding on the size you require, think about the overall weight of a full tank, and do consider the GVW (gross vehicle weight) of the vehicle you intend to use, or the combination if using a trailer.
Options
As well as different colour options, the tanks can be fitted with generator feed fittings, level gauges – and you can upgrade from the basic hand pump to 12 or 24 volt battery powered pumps or mains electric.
