Government defers ban on oil heating

On 20th September the UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, gave a speech which made some sweeping changes to the timeline of carbon reduction targets.

One of the most significant was the fact that oil boilers will still be available up to 2035, for off-grid homes. And even then, you will only be required to replace oil boilers with a heat pump system when the boiler actually needs replacing.

So, oil (kerosene) as heating fuel is still with us for a good while to come.

Tanks-UK continue to stock and supply single skin and bunded oil storage tanks. Single skin oil tanks are allowable under 2500 litres if certain criteria are met.

Making the change to HVO

One environmental improvement that businesses can make is to transfer their diesel fleet to run on HVO. For most diesel engines they need no modification, but check first with the manufacturer.  HVO if fully renewable energy and a valuable use of recycled cooking oil.  It is also lower on emissions than mineral-based diesel.

All of our fuel dispensing tanks can be used with mineral diesel (white or red diesel) or HVO but please do check with us in case you need a different filter or fittings.

HVO is not the same as biodiesel (FAME) – for more information check out our recent blog post HERE
