There are many shapes and sizes of standard plastic tanks, particularly water tanks. But sometimes they might not be quite what you need.

Bespoke tanks can be fabricated in special sizes or configurations, using plastic welding processes.

However, there is such a large range of standard plastic tanks that often you may only need adaptations using standard moulded tanks as the basis.

Here are a few case studies:

Case Study #1

The customer needed fire suppression water supply and there was not the space to install a large sectional steel tank as a fire tank. The concrete base needed to be quite narrow but length was not so much of a problem.

The solution – instead of one large tank, Tanks-UK supplied a series of six 30,000 litre vertical plastic water tanks, and the installation was completed by interlinking them all to one line of pipework with a single draw off connection. Completing the installation in this way also meant that the weight was more evenly distributed than a 180,000 litre single tank so that it didn’t need such a heavy base as one large tank would have needed.

Road Tow Watering BowserCase Study #2

A local authority were looking for a road-legal watering bowser they could use to tow behind their vans when maintaining and watering fixed planters and landscaped areas.

The solution – Tanks-UK supplied a 1200 litre road tow bowser, which comes complete on a braked chassis with everything that’s needed including the number plate clips. The watering kit was supplied with a long hose with a spray nozzle; and a stainless steel hose reel holder on the side.

The customer was so pleased with the initial bowser that they have since ordered several more.

Cone tanks in use in a breweryCase Study #3

Tanks for a brewery. Cone based plastic tanks on frames are ideal where there is need to store liquids and draw off right to the bottom of the tank. The inlet and outlets can be positioned wherever they are needed, with taps and/or hose fittings. And if the standard frames aren’t the right height, they can be made to order.

Livestock drinking water

And, if you are in livestock agriculture, there are some new grants available through DEFRA for improving calf housing sheds including drinking facilities, so now is a good time to look at plastic water tanks for livestock watering.
